A person’s teeth or jaws not fitting together properly, it is known as a malocclusion or “bad bite”. Orthodontic treatment may be necessary to prevent premature wear of teeth, speech difficulty, and decrease the risk of injury to teeth or jaw joints. An Orthodontist is a dental specialist in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of orthodontic problems. This individual has completed a minimum of two academic years of study in an accredited orthodontic residency program.

No. All initial consultations are free.

Once the evaluation has occurred, Dr. Burns will be able to give you an estimated treatment time. Typically, most cases take between 12 to 24 months to complete.

You are never too old to have a great looking smile. Adult orthodontic treatment involves treating patients over the age of 18. There are many options available. Adults can benefit from orthodontic treatment by straightening their teeth and correcting bite issues. The orthodontic treatment can enhance the patient’s facial appearance and help protect their teeth for life; thus preserving them. 

Yes, we offer this product. For some patients it is a great way to achieve a beautiful smile that is less obvious than conventional braces. 

Braces are used to correct small gaps, align teeth, and perfect your smile. It allows your smile to be at its very best.

First phase braces are typically for children under the age of 11, who suffer from a lack of space for their adult teeth to descend. The patient will utilize a first phase orthodontic treatment to create space for their permanent teeth. Another instance in which a first phase may be necessary is to intercept unfavorable growth patterns and prevent further jaw disharmonies. 

Yes, it is recommended that you continue to see your dentist every 6 months for a regular check-up and cleaning. The dentist and the orthodontist perform different functions in effectively providing you with optimal oral health care. Both are needed to achieve this goal. 

Yes. Dr. Burns is an advocate for continuity of care and communicates with your dentist while you are in care with Burns Orthodontics. 

Some discomfort is common at various points in the treatment process but does not usually interfere with your activities of daily living. Typically, over-the-counter pain relief medications combined with a gum numbing agent are sufficient to ease the discomfort. 

Dr. Burns is an expert in working with oral surgeons.

Avoid any foods that are sticky, gooey, crunchy, or chewy.

You will be provided with a home care kit called the “Braces Survival Kit” and complete home care instructions from a member of the Burns Orthodontics team. 

Yes, we have three office locations. Appointment times are available before and after school or work.

Most insurance plans are accepted. Please contact one of our offices to verify your particular plan or bring your card to your initial consultation. We will help you to make the most of your benefits and to file claims on your behalf. 

Yes, we offer flexible and extended payment plans. Our goal is to make every reasonable attempt to make orthodontic treatment available to all patients.
